JEEP Roll Over on Dinero – 4×4 Offroad dangers

This is not my video – just posting it for wary Jeepers out there to remind the dangers of our pastime…here’s the write up of the folks in the Jeep accident: Bill and Irene were checked out at the hospital and back in camp by that afternoon. They were scratched, bruised and quite sore, but were ok for the most part. Comments from Irene: We decided to stay until Tuesday, so we could get more rest before the trek home… It’s almost scarier watching the video, than to be in the jeep at the time! While it was happening, it seemed to go on and on, rolling over and over. I kept wondering, “When is it going to STOP? And what’s going to happen when it finally does stop? (I had visions of the jeep blowing up, for example. Guess I have seen too many movies!) I remember saying at first, “Oh, God, not again!” (We were in a bad accident 1.5 years ago.) Our roll cage has really done wonders in saving our lives! Still, it was a miracle that we all survived this one! This accident was much worse. Lovey (the dog) knows how to place herself according to the terrain, but nothing could prepare her for the constant rolling over. When we are on steep uphill or downhill trails, she gets on the floor of the jeep, and braces her body parallel to our front seats. If we are on a paved road she gets up on the seat and looks out the window. She is the best jeeping dog! She loves to go jeeping. I wonder if she will still be as happy to go on more trails after this accident. (Lovey was not with us

that angle was a very wrong place to stop that vehicle for letting the car come back and then making that strong brake, he should have kept the wheels turning slowly instead of stopping the car in that much high angle..

@minero73mx I’m pretty sure that an XJ would have rolled right there doing what they did. It kind of looks like he stalled, then stopped, then let off the brakes. It seems as though if he had at least cranked the wheel over to bring it around he may have been in much better shape

I do have to say one thing I have always like abut off-roading over the years. Is the people they for the most part lookout for eachother which say a lot about the us off-roaders as a whole.

  8. vector150 says:

Well good you made it all out alive. But leave the dog at home..or have someone a spotter or someone walk the dog up for you.

The only thing that really scares me is when I see multiple 4×4’s on a steep incline, I mean if the Jeep that rolled was in the frount that would be a very bad situation.

@VTmtRescue …..You was not there. I was. Everything was being done to effect a safe recovery. Everyone pitched in and did what they could. I administerd first aid to the man and kept him from going into shock. We check on them before we left and they were doing well.

  14. RenderingsToTheMAX says:

that’s exactly why I always place mine in my rear seat lashed down with strap ties! Some guys even take off their spare tire…I don’t go that far though!

  15. acedogg692005 says:

when are wranler owners goin to learn … Stop puttin little coolers over teh spare, its too much weight

  16. smundara says:

I hope you get it fix soon. Thank God everybody is OK.

  17. VTmtRescue says:

From start to finish it’s an example of what not to do. From a really dumb combo of mistakes behind the wheel to an unsafe recovery, unsafe use of a Hi-Lift jack and on and on… I’d venture to say that not ONE person there knew what they were doing- or at least was too shy to speak up and stop the stupidity. Recoveries often go that way. Everyone wants to be the hero and in charge. Cool off, think it through.
More importantly, go get some training before someone is killed next time.

  18. rednekyfz says:

he obviously needs to learn how to drive, that was a dumb place to roll.

  19. TheCaferocker says:

Thats one of the best roll video’s I’ve seen mostly because it shows the recovery of the 4×4 and that it shows the fact that sometimes people do get hurt. I’m glad to see they walked away from it and I hope they dont give up on such a great sport.

this is why you always go with someone else,

Good to see you guys were helped out of there. One of the things I love about the Jeep community.

    What was the helicopter for?

  22. big500 says:

WOW:-) Great to see all you guys & girls pitching in, and doing everything you can to help…
Just shows a minor error can have big concequences… All those vehicles look really well prepared, and everyone was enjoying a great day out……. I hope I can ride with a crew like you if I ever get the chance… Hope everything turned out ok in the end

  23. DrLeavingsoon says:

I heard Wranglers weren’t that great as offroaders, but this looks more like driver error to me. He hesitated and allowed the vehicle to stop. Rule number one – NEVER allow the vehicle to lose its engine control. I’ve seen a landrover do something similar, roll upright and drive off with a very red faced owner.

  24. 2Phast4Rocket says:

That Wrangler is jacked sky high and coupled with narrow and short wheelbase, you get a real unstable situation.
