Silva is her maiden and stage name. She is married to the veteran actor Olu Jacobs. Acting has always been her passion since childhood. A graduate of English from the University Of Lagos, and also a graduate of drama at the prestigious Weber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, she has been in the entertainment industry for almost three decades.

The international actress of repute has featured in several stage productions both at home and abroad and several movies. One of her works includes an international film “Secret laughter of Women’.

In this story, Joke Siva bares her mind on life as an actress and Nollywood. This is Joke in her words:

ON THE MOVIE INDUSTRY -Our movies is one of the things that represents us abroad much more than our ambassadors can, and is not very fair that everything is screwed towards violence, rituals and sex, it seems that’s all we are about which is so untrue. I will like to see a bit more balance. There is no quality control in what is coming out.

People have decided or they have discovered that sex and violence sells. So sometimes they go over board with the violence and sex. The stories are just not well thought out. I believe in well made movies where you give your actors enough time to assimilate and understand their roles. And also the director took enough time to be creative. You will find out this kind of movies sells. Rather than making a movie in seven days. We should be thinking of doing things rightly.

ATTRACTION ON SET -It happens all the time, at least for me. I am always attracted to somebody on a set. And it started from my student days at the Weber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts in London. During my student days we were made to realize that it happens and it is alright to feel attracted to your co- actor on set. It doesn’t necessary have to be a co-actor it could be your director. But it all depends on the energy of the play. Because there is an openness that has to come into creativity and which is usually what happens when you are falling in love with somebody.

You are opening up and when you are opening up to the camera you can mistake it for passion. From experience I have learnt that it has nothing to do with being emotionally attracted to someone at all. Rather it is the energy of the play which wears off after a while. Don’t jump in and say ‘Oh I have met the love of my life. If you do that you are in trouble because once the feeling wears off suddenly you ask yourself what do you find attractive about him or her? But all professionals know it’s the energy of the play that indicates the passion when acting. I have never experienced any passion outside the stage except with my husband.

SEXUAL HARRASSMENT -Yes I think it’s part of the work terrain for women. Men do it all over the world. They just kind of have this sense that, if you are working with them they have the right to sleep with you. And it’s now up to you to say No, if you don’t want to. I have never had the stints that if I didn’t sleep with this person I wouldn’t get work. I was too passionate about my work. My work was just so consuming for me, that it just never crossed my mind that anybody could affect my career. It just couldn’t because when I said No I meant No.

NUDE ROLE -So far I never felt it necessary to play a nude scene. Would l? It is always dangerous to say never. Because we never know what life might throw at us. But I pray to God that I never have to be in a situation where I must, if it is necessary. My culture does not particularly accept it. I cannot imagine taking off my clothes and then having either of my sons going to school the next day and their friends pointing at them. Even if it is a good role that necessitates it I cannot do that. I have never had the urge to take off my clothes on set even before I got married. I had a real nice body when I was younger It wasn’t a necessary part of the entertainment scene in the past and I don’t think it is necessary now.

I believe a lot of what people are doing now is pornography. They are trying to pass pornography as an art. I don’t think it is an art at all, it is all rubbish.

PLAYING ROMANTIC ROLE -My husband doesn’t mind watching my romantic scenes. But when he is on set he walks out. But he watches the finished product.

FEES -I don’t discuss my fees with people. For me it is not business like to do that. The highest fee I was paid was when I went to England to do an international film. The film is titled “laughter of women’. I was paid in pound sterling. I have heard people say they earned this or that fee and when you hear the budget of the movie you wonder !

FORTUNE AS AN ACTRES -No! No! not at all. For me a person is rich when you can’t count the person’s money. I can count every kobo that I have.

CAREER – As per my dreams Yes I have definitely fulfilled my dreams as an actress. But financially I have not, because the industry does not pay one enough to survive on. That’s one of the reasons the producers gave for doing thread mill home videos. That they will pay actors so that they will always have work to do.

In a country when teachers and people complained of educational and teaching standards was appointed to improve them.. a general.

A regional state appointed a minister to organise governmental dietary advice –he came to be talked about as being a fat minister.

One of the poems of the teacher and thinker the late Orhan Seyfi Ari contains these verses on man’s behaviour: “’I was an ape’ you say, or amphibian… And now, are you not, now, man.!?”

When a television station showed a documentary millions of television audiences watched with interest adding to their knowledge how young workers in the fields placed ladders against the trees and climbed them and picked off them spaghetti -it was April fool’s day.

‘Someone was asked what the new monarch would do when he came to the throne, and replied: “He will sit down…”

An art gallery exhibited not a painting wrapped in the dirty cloth used to protect the floor from paint splashes but.. the wrapping.

Years ago I was called in to assist a well known and respected quarter horse trainer with a mare he was having trouble with. When I arrived at the ranch, we walked over to her stall and I introduced myself.

He went on to explain that she just didnâ??t seem to understand what he wanted her to do. Heâ??d worked with her for several months now and wasnâ??t getting anywhere. Although he was very patient and careful to explain things, heâ??d begun to wonder if she was in pain, or maybe she was â??slow in the headâ??â?¦ or maybe she was just in the wrong line of work â?? even though she had all the genetics she needed for the job.

He felt heâ??d tried everything he knew from his many years of working with horses, but was well and truly stumped. As a last resort, heâ??d asked me to communicate with her to see what was wrong. If that didnâ??t help turn things around, he was going to have to give up and send her back to her owner.

When I asked her what was going on, she told me something very surprising and unexpected. She said that she had no intention of working with him because he was disrespecting her and was rude. He had no idea who she really was and she would not work for him because of it.

I thanked her for sharing that with me, and asked her to please explain to me how he was being rude to her. She said that he called her â??Ratâ??. And that her true name was Wind Dancer. Rat was rude and disrespectful and she wouldnâ??t answer to it, in fact, it made her mad. She even demonstrated her annoyance by trying to bite at him and even kicked in our direction!

When I shared that with my redneck cowboy client, he turned a nice shade of red in embarrassment as he confirmed what sheâ??d saidâ?¦ he did call her Ratâ??. He exclaimed, â??I canâ??t call her that! Everyone would laugh at me! Cutting horse people just donâ??t name their horses things like â??Wind Dancer!â?? â?

I tried to explain to her how he felt and asked her if we could somehow find a compromise to work this out. She said it would be ok if he called her Windy, as long as he KNEW he was actually calling her Wind Dancer, but just saying Windy for short.He said he thought that would be ok, and she came over for a head rub as she visibly calmed down.

A couple of weeks later, I checked in with him and asked how she was doing. Apparently, as soon as they got things straight between them, she settled down to her work and became quite a good cow horse very quickly. It was never the work she minded, just the attitude.

Have you ever felt that the name you are calling your animal friend is somehow not right, or doesnâ??t fit them, or noticed that they didnâ??t respond to it? Maybe youâ??ve got the wrong name. You may not know it but animals do occasionally change their names.

Different cultures traditionally have allowed individuals to earn a new name during rites of passage or in vision quests. Animals also can choose different aspects of themselves to embrace at different times of their lives as they mature or go through phases. Itâ??s not uncommon for a shelter animal to want a new name when they go to a new home or choose a new family.

I recently worked with a client who wanted to invite a new dog into her life (after her older dog gave his approval and support for the idea which is always a good thing to do, of course). So I helped them work with the first few dogs, who all turned out to not be right for them at all.The next dog they attracted felt really wonderful even though she had some problems.

A shelter foster dog, she came to them with the name of Sophie, but my client just got the sense that wasnâ??t her real name. So she kept asking and trying different names. Nothing worked until one day she â??heardâ?? a name pop into her head. â??Penny! My name is Penny!â?

When she tried that name with the new dog, she immediately got an enthusiastic response which proved to her without a doubt what her new friend wanted to be called.

There are many other critically important reasons to talk with your animal too, especially if you are considering taking in a new companion. For instance, only they can tell you their true history and background. Who else will know but them, right?

Communicating also helps them understand new house rules, and provides an opportunity to negotiate behavior. We also need to know about their training background, their learning styles, what they feel their purpose is, what they like or donâ??t like.

Youâ??ll also want to know if they feel there is a good fit between you. Please donâ??t take on an animal just because they are cute or remind you of an animal you had before. If they donâ??t feel connected to you, then regardless of how hard you try, neither of you will be truly happy together.

Communication with animals also helps them heal from past trauma or abuse, eases the transition time, and supports them while they grieve the loss of the family they lost.

So do yourself and your animal friends a favor and give them a voice. Youâ??ll be glad you did.

Although in most shows or series filmed in New Orleans, the casting directors are quick to represent the correct racial makeup of the city, unlike “Seinfeld” which managed to get through an entire 8 seasons without representing the extreme diversity of midtown New York City. The character was originally supposed to be played by Brooke Kerr (Whitney from Passions), but I felt Wesley was a lot more authentic in look and attitude. I also liked the opening scene of the first episode, which had a young couple going into a local store and getting into a verbal confrontation with the store clerk posing as a vampire, and a real vampire/redneck. That then leads to a confrontation between the poser vampire and the real vampire in which the vampire/redneck tells threatens the poser for “pretending to be one of them.” This scene is especially classic because the poser is dressed as a total goth while the redneck is dressed like a typical beer-swilling hick.

Has filming begun? Have you been on the set, and if so what was it like for you? Filming starts June 7 (2007), last I heard. I have been on the set while it was still being built, and I’ve met some of the production crew. Without exception, they struck me with their questions, their interest, and their knowledge of the books. It was a really pleasant shock to find out they cared about the books and hoped their vision enriched mine.

The Southern town of Bon Temps provides a fun backdrop for this story. Take out the vampires, and you still have a whole town full of colourful characters, shape shifters, exorcisms and other weird goings on. I’m also excited about the premise of the story with the idea of vampires fighting for equal rights and some even mainstreaming.

The two known classifications of psychic vampires are conscious astral vampires, and subconscious magnetic vampires. The astral vampire can be undead due to its ability to astral project from its gravesite and drain the energy from living beings, which is redirected back to its corpse to retain its life force. Or the astral vampire may be of the living and are fully aware of what they are. They focus their energies and mind upon the mind of their victim to overcome it, then in the victims weakness they drain the life force from its thought. The more advanced living astral vampires project themselves into the astral realm to seek victims, and have very fierce and volatile personalities. The majority of the entities are wanderers and see the results of their presence, but are in a perpetual state of denial about it. About the Author:

Douglas Chandler Graham grew up in rural Virginia close to Lakeside Amusement Park. He worked summers at this park from the age of twelve until he was eighteen when he joined the U.S. Army Air Force. Honorably discharged from the military, he became a street cop in Roanoke, Virginia. Over the years, he has been a bill collector, salesman, and postman. After retiring from the Postal Service, he became a certified private investigator and bodyguard. He has lived in Florida since 2000.

His first book ‘Smoke and Murders’ is a fictionalized story of the murder of the Hodges family as discovered in the small town of Vinton, Virginia, on August 29, 1994. Most of the characters are composites of people known to the author and, except for the murders; most of the situations are made up. Fascinated by the sequence of events as they unfolded, the author could not get the crime off his mind, and over the years, Smoke and Murders evolved. Urged by family and friends to finish the story, the author hopes that it will spark some interest in the real story of a man he believes was falsely convicted.

Kenny had been working patrol that Saturday night when he got a call from the dispatcher to check on a disturbance at the Stoplight. The Stoplight was a large redneck bar where a lot of the local punks drank beer, shot pool, and fought, usually in that order. It was unusual to get calls there because the owner had what he called, “My own security.”

Security was a couple of tough guys; one a Vietnam vet with mental problems that moonlighted from his regular post office job and the other just released from prison after spending fifteen years for manslaughter. He had beaten a man to death with his fist.

Both enjoyed beating up people, a fact not lost on the Stoplight clientele, unless they got too drunk to remember.

In addition to the beer joint, there were several rundown motel rooms in back. The owner, who was also the bartender, rented rooms by the need. Someone finding a compatible friend may need one for an hour or two, or someone might drink too much and realize he shouldn’t be driving, a situation much less frequent than the hourly rental, but it did happen occasionally.

This is where the problem was that Saturday night. Kenny parked the police cruiser well away from where any other car might back into it if leaving and approached the battered steel front door of the Stoplight. Before Kenny had reached the bar, the owner motioned that the problem was behind the building. He disliked cops in his bar. If there is one thing that will kill a party, it’s a cop roaming around where people are well on their way to getting drunk.

Kenny heard pig noises and “damned cop” and jokes about coming after someone, but he paid as little attention to them as he possibly could so there would be no confrontation. He could take on several of them as drunk as they were, but he wasn’t called there for that. As much fun as he thought that might be, whatever the problem was, it was in back of the building. He pushed the nasty steel front door open with his foot leaving.

Bill Kenny walked around the left side of the dirty white building. Soot spots stained the walls low where cars had backed in to park next to the building. The owner had finally put in concrete parking blocks, making a walkway. This wasn’t for the customers’ convenience; before the parking blocks had been installed, several customers had backed their cars into the building and crushed the outer layer of cinder blocks. The one dusk-to-dawn light at the entrance to the gravel lot didn’t make a lot of light. Kenny’s flashlight shined on wine bottles, beer cans, beer bottles, snack bags, and even some clothing items and a shoe before he could see the motel rooms clearly. Only one room had a light in it, so he headed for that.”

After the third time of getting Amanda off, Adam knew he had better not push his luck for time and he turned Amanda over onto her stomach. He raised her hips until she was on her knees and elbows, her forearms and hands flat on the bed beside her head. Adam looked at the beauty of her raised curved hips. At first, he thought of going into the small brown rosebud that was higher but he needed more time to prepare her for that. She was wet with his saliva and her own slickness. He entered her without any guidance from either of them, and with a few quick thrusts, squeezed her thighs with his hands as he held his breath until he could hold it no more, and then the release, that indescribable feeling of time and space, and nothing, life or death, or heaven that is over all too quickly. Adam fell onto her body and collapsed onto the bed atop her. They both lay until their breathing became normal, saying nothing, enjoying the spent feeling of perfect sex and the closeness of another human. The window air conditioner was no match for all the activity and both glistened with sweat. Adam put his clothes on as he had taken them off. Sticking his legs in the underwear, pants and into his shoes and then got into his shirt that lay on the end of the bed. He didn’t want to meet Brad coming home and have the glow of sex, and the smell, still on him. Adam hoped Amanda would shower, but that was her problem. Both now downstairs, he kissed Amanda quickly on the lips. She was still naked with a handful of Kleenex held to her crotch, as he went out into the sweltering heat of mid-afternoon. Several blocks from the house Adam stopped at the first convenience store and bought a twelve pack of Milwaukee’s Best. He decided he had done everything he could for this day.
