Would the Letterman joke been funny if the subjects of the joke were the Obama children?

How funny would that be? I don’t think it would be funny at all. I can’t believe a liberal would run to the defense of someone that would tell such a joke.

Not funny. Dave was wrong. Unfortunate that the Libs defend him.

  2. Renegade99 says:

Quite obviously, the angry victims of such a joke would have been ARod and Spitzer.

Palin is feigning outrage for political gain. Her fanatical base will believe anything. She has them believing that Letterman made a joke about raping her 14 year old daughter when he did nothing of the kind. The Republican Party has a long history of duping their base into action.

  3. Angel Of Death says:

No it wouldn’t be,in fact whoever made the joke would already be looking for a job.

But Liberals can justify anything,as long as it serves their agenda.I’m am still constantly amazed by the smear and attack campaign that continues against the Palin family. But I guess the Libs must have just forgotten how to turn off their blind hatred, even when it serves no real purpose.

The political irony is that Bristol Palin became pregnant as a teenager while her politician mother actively denigrated comprehensive sex education, which might have prevented her daughter’s pregnancy.

Teen pregnancy, which is on the rise in this country is not funny, but political satirical humor that draws attention to the problem accomplishes a worthwhile purpose. The Obama children are way too young and obviously have not become pregnant so they are irrelevant to this subject matter.

  5. rondo says:

i think the joke should have been on feminism

  6. Sailing says:

It wasn’t funny when Chelsea was made fun of last year and she was much older than 14. And the news guy was suspended. Most people agree that politician’s children are off limits. Too bad no one told Letterman. And the excuses that some people make by saying that Palin has dragged her family around with her is just an excuse. Palin wanted her family with her, is there really something wrong with that? No one seemed to have a problem when Obama’s kids were with him from time to time during campaigning.
Bristol is now talking to other teens about teenage pregnancy. Yes she made a mistake. I am sure a lot of us have. But who is a teenager more likely to listen too? Another teenager, especially one who has been through a teen pregnancy, or their parents? I think what she is doing is a good thing.

  7. Massive Mann says:

Then you must not laugh at anything, do you? I found the joke in very poor taste, regardless of if it were about Willow or Bristol, but I’ll tell ya a little secret…If you CONS keep hashing this thing around, you make Dave a Hero and you make Palin look like a Whinny little Bi…..Oh, Wait……I’m Sorry…..She’s already is.

  8. Dave87gn says:

It wouldnt be a joke if the people in the joke were changed

Bristol is famous for getting knocked up…not much else

  9. Val says:

It’s already an established pattern that the Palin children get knocked up underage – so what’s the big deal anyway

  10. Jimmy G says:

Well neither of Obama’s daughters had a kid as a teen, so the context of the joke wouldn’t make any sense, making it not funny.

If one of Obama’s daughters happened to be either a teen, or had a baby as a teen, then yes it would have been funny.

  11. MsManner says:

The writers of the jokes should test it out and see. They wouldn’t dare. Everyone is brainwashed into thinking that Obama is ‘golden’; i.e. He’s been placed so high on the proverbial Pedestal that he’s off-limits for ridiculers. Besides, any Republicans in that position are too classy to make a child the brunt of a joke just for ratings.

  12. Nikki says:

No. It wasn’t funny about the Palin’s. It wouldn’t be funny about Obama’s or anyone’s children. Letterman never was funny. This proves he’s an insensitive hack. With a lib agenda, as well.

  13. Roderick B says:

He only provided more ammunition for my argument to repeal the prohibitions on dueling. Low Knavery is his forte`.

  14. James S says:

The joke that David Letterman wasn’t funny but not for the reason that most republican’s think. I wasn’t offended by it I just didn’t find it all that funny. Palin’s public outrage is only to serve her need to be in the public spotlight. There have been many joke’s made at her and her families expense and yet only now she’s offened. How convenient for her. Here’s 10 examples compiled the the Alaska Report.

    10) Last September, a skit on Saturday Night Live suggested incest in the Palin family. “What about the husband?” asked a mock Times reporter. “You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska!” No outrage. Sarah Palin appeared on the show one month later in late October.

    (9) Days after the announcement of Bristol’s pregnancy, Conan O’Brien joked, “It’s true, John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. Palin said, ‘We should never have introduced her to John Edwards.’” Where was the outrage? Was Conan promoting infidelity with an underage girl?

8 ) “Governor Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. Oh, boy, you thought John Edwards was in trouble before, now he’s really done it!” –Jay Leno

    7) “All the Republicans are heaping praise on Governor Palin. Fred Thompson said, as an actor, he could see them making a movie about Sarah Palin and her family. Didn’t they already make that movie? I think it was called ‘Knocked Up!’”–Jay Leno

    6) Craig Ferguson’s skit of “Larry King vs Levi Johnston” asks about “kinky sex” with the drapes open. Craig Ferguson’s honorary Alaska citizenship, granted by Governor Palin wasn’t rescinded.

    5) “According to expense reports, Sarah Palin charged the state of Alaska over $21,000 for her children to travel with her on official business. In fairness to Gov. Palin, when she leaves them home alone they get pregnant.” – Seth Meyers (SNL) Sarah Palin was in a sketch with Seth a week earlier.

    4) On October 8, 2008, Sarah Palin walked out on the ice with 6 year old Piper and 13 year old Willow, Conan O’Brien said, “Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers’ hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter’s penalty box.” Oh, yes he did. You get the outrage…but not a peep then. According to the new “logic”, O’Brien was advocating for some sick stuff.

    3) Rush Limbaugh, “Everyone knows the Clintons have a cat. Socks is the White House cat. But did you know there is a White House dog?” And he puts up a picture of Chelsea Clinton. Chelsea Clinton is 13 years old. Rush also says, “In last year’s campaign, the most prominent, articulate voice for standard run-of-the-mill good old-fashioned American conservatism was Sarah Palin.” Calling a young woman a “dog” can’t be helpful to her “self esteem.”

    2) “Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly? Because her father is Janet Reno.” John McCain, Palin’s running mate. Should McCain apologize to every young woman in America?

    1) Palin’s friend, political defender and informer of the David Letterman comments, John Ziegler was fired from his radio show for using the “n word” on line and on air in 1997. In 2000, he was fired for spelling the n-word on the air. How much does that word affect the psychological health of the youth of America, regardless of their race? Now he is pimping his film about how mean the “liberal media” was to Palin.
